Collective Reason:Getting started

There are no rules set in stone for the organization of translation projects. In general, the originators of a project may establish an organization which suits them. So far, at least, we have not gone too far into the realm of fancy translation interfaces. However, we do have a few tools which simplify things a bit:

TransPage template

The heart of the present system is the TransPage template, which renders original and translated texts side by side. Currently, projects are organized in page-length or section-length chunks, short enough to deal with in the built-in editor without any spiffy interfaces. A basic page look something like this in the editor:

{{TransPage|
|language1=French
|language2=English
|original={{p|5}}
<div align=center><big>PROGRAMME</big></div>

§ I. — Avènement du peuple à la philosophie.

Au début d'une nouvelle œuvre, nous devons expliquer notre titre et notre dessein.

|translation={{p|5}}
<div align=center><big>PROGRAM</big></div>

§ I. — The coming of the people to philosophy.

At the beginning of a new work, we must explain our title and our design.

}}

Which renders like this:

[original French]

PROGRAMME

§ I. — Avènement du peuple à la philosophie.

Au début d'une nouvelle œuvre, nous devons expliquer notre titre et notre dessein.

[English translation]

PROGRAM

§ I. — The coming of the people to philosophy.

At the beginning of a new work, we must explain our title and our design.

Navigation template

In order to move easily from page to page, or section to section, you can insert the Nav template above the TransPage template. With the previous and next numbers, roman numerals, or section names inserted, this:

{{Nav|01|03}}

renders as this:
