The Key of Libberty

William Manning's The Key of Libberty was composed in 1789, but remained unpublished until 1922. It is the political testament of a perceptive but "unlettered" workman, a Jeffersonian democrat in the age of Shay's Rebellion and the Hamiltonian finance. It includes a fascinating early plan for a national labor union and workers' paper.
